Video – Lower Extremity

Hi. This is Dr. Mark Katz in Tampa and I wanted to discuss with you pain in general in your feet, ankles, knees, hips, back. People ask me can these be related. The answer is yes. Not always, but they can be. What happens is, if you have a foot that’s not functioning properly and is unstable and falling inward, we call that pronation, or flat feet, sometimes a high arch foot. In general your foot’s not functioning properly, it throws everything else off. If we don’t treat that, then you can end up with knee pain, hip pain and back pain.

It’s really important to look at it from the standpoint of the feet and work your way up. You have to check all the other conditions and see a doctor for those conditions to make sure there’s nothing else going on there. If you are having multiple pains coming from your foot and then working their way up, then come see a podiatrist. Come see us.
