Mark: Hi. This is Dr. Mark Katz of Advanced Podiatry in Tampa. I want to discuss today a concept and a treatment known as prolotherapy. This is a treatment which is also known as regenerative medicine. So what does it use for? Well, prolotherapy is used and has been used since the 1950s strengthening of ligaments and for pain and instability of the foot and ankle, and other parts of the body. But today, we’ll be discussing the foot and ankle.
So let’s say, for instance, you’ve experienced a sprain and you’ve gotten no relief, and you feel like you’re unstable. Prolotherapy is a natural solution that we can inject around the ligaments, and that solution is injected. What does is it regenerates fibers of the ligament, basically. So instead of giving your cortisone which drops inflammation but then ultimately break down tissue, we’re going to regenerate tissue. This is the future. So you really want to take note of this therapy known as prolotherapy or regenerative medicine.
People also have heard of PRP which is platelet rich plasma, another form of regenerative medicine. But we did this in our office and have been doing it for years, and we can help you with sprains, any type of tendon tears that are partial, any type of foot pain. These all can be addressed with prolotherapy. So I would urge you to go on my website and if you go onto the website at thetampapodiatrist.com, we have a section on prolotherapy and we’ll give more detailed talks about it in the future. But I just want to make it a subject that you can look up and start to think about. If you would like to come in for a consultation to discuss prolotherapy, you can reach us at 813-875-0555 in Tampa Bay and you can reach on the web at thetampapodiatrist.com. So prolotherapy, P-R-O-L-O-T-H-E-R-A-P-Y. Prolotherapy. Look it up and become informed, and we’ll be happy to answer any of your questions. Thanks and have a great day.
